He's her (agoraphobic) lobster [Nov. 28th, 2015|10:45 pm]
So I initially posted this to tumblr, but then I remembered that (1) replies no longer exist; and (2) tumblr is the absolute worst, so I thought I'd try to get things started here again (my apologies...it has been a busy, busy six months).

Speaking of which, I finally had a little downtime to myself to watch the show of my choice. Did I watch any of fall tv, since I am behind/not yet begun on all of the shows I ostensibly watch? Nah. Catch up on those shows I have been meaning to watch for quite literally years? Nope. Watch Jessica Jones, so I’m actually in the loop for once? Of course not. Instead I watched the 1995 Pride and Prejudice, but instead of feeling satisfied, sat around wishing there was more...and then six hours later I’d somehow zipped through all of the Lizzie Bennet’s Diaries.

Guys, I’m so sad I wasn’t watching this when it was in vogue. The romance is better than it has any right to be - given how little time we actually spend with Darcy - but what really caught me most is the strength of the female friendships. And it’s a relief to see a version where Charlotte and Lydia end up with better fates.

There’s fanfic right? There must be fanfic.

LBD! I was pretty obsessed with it when it aired on real time. Waiting for each ep to air was torture, especially once we hit Pemberley. Boy did those two actors ever have ridiculous amount of chemistry together.

It was a very popular yuletide fandom that year, and I think there is a decent amount of fic on AO3. A few off the top of my head:

Fitz and Gigi's Amazing Adventures. Super cute.

I remember reading and enjoying several of imaginarycirus's LBD fic, although my fave of her might be the one in which they have angry, angsty sex against the wall of a stalled elevator right after his confession and her rejection.

Vienna Waits for You -- this one messes with the notion of happily ever after, which I liked.

Thick as Thieves. Sadly unfinished, but a lovely read while it lasted, about Lizzie and Darcy actually becoming friends after the Gibson wedding, where they actually *talk* and resolve all the misunderstandings before they become road-blocks.

I also echo loving the portrayal of Jane, Lydia (oh man, especially Lydia) and Charlotte. Did you watch Lydia's vblog along with LBD? Oh, man.
